Midland College Students Participate in Community College Day at the Texas Capitol

On Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, a group of 31 Midland College students traveled to Austin to participate in Community College Day at the Texas Capitol. The trip, led by MC Professor of Government and Director of the Honors Program Dr. Terry Gilmour and MC Associate Professor of Government/Political Science Ben Malone, provided students with a firsthand look at the legislative process and an opportunity to engage with state lawmakers.

The energy was high at the Midland ISD Crosstown Showdown, and for two students, the night ended with more than just school spirit. Brooklynn Dow and Carlos Pastrana Sanchez, both from Midland Legacy High School, each won a one-year scholarship to Midland College after beating the clock in the College and Career Connections (C3)-sponsored 3 Shot Challenge.

Midland College Collaborates with Renowned Author Newsome to Launch Veterans Book Club

Midland College is excited to announce the launch of its Veterans Book Club, a new eight-week program designed to bring Veterans, their families, and supporters together for meaningful discussions and shared experiences. The weekly meetings will take place every Thursday from 5-7 p.m. in the Scharbauer Student Center Club Room, starting Jan. 30 and running through March 20.
