Midland College offers a variety of financial aid programs to help make college affordable. 


Depending on your eligibility, you may qualify for grants, scholarships, loans, work-study, or state-funded assistance. Understanding the different types of financial aid can help you determine which programs best fit your educational and financial needs.

Federal grants are need-based federal funds you do not repay. These include Pell Grants and Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants (SEOG).

How to apply

Submit the FAFSA each year and complete any additional steps requested by the Financial Aid Office. If you are selected for verification, you’ll receive an email from the Verification Gateway from Inceptia. If you do not complete any required verification steps, you will not receive federal aid.

How much

Federal grant amounts vary based on the student’s eligibility and how many credit hours they’re enrolled each semester.

The State of Texas provides opportunities for students to receive additional funding programs (such as TPEG, TEOG or TASFA) that help with tuition/fees for eligible students.

How to apply

Submit FAFSA or TASFA and provide any additional documents requested by the Financial Aid Office. 

TASFA Deadlines: 

    • Fall – August 1
    • Spring – December 1

General TASFA Eligibility:

    • Be a Texas Resident
    • Be a US Citizen, eligible noncitizen or be certified as HB 1403 eligible
    • Show financial need
    • Have a high school diploma, final high school transcript with a graduation date or GED
    • Be registered with the Selective Service (males 18-25 years of age) or provide documentation of exemption
    • Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student working toward a degree or certificate in an eligible program
    • Make Satisfactory Academic Progress
    • Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default on a federal educational loan
    • Be enrolled in at least 6 hours

Students may also review the State Exemptions and provide appropriate documentation to the Financial Aid Office if they qualify.

What it is

The federal student loan program allows eligible students and parents to borrow directly from the U.S. Department of Education to help cover the cost of higher education. Direct Subsidized, Direct Unsubsidized and Direct PLUS Loans are types of Direct Loans. After you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time enrollment, you will have a six-month grace period before you are required to begin repayment.

    • Summer – July 1

What it is

Part-time campus jobs for eligible students; you earn a paycheck for hours worked.

Who qualifies

Based on FAFSA/TASFA eligibility and available positions.

How to apply

Eligible students are sent a letter from Midland College and asked to respond if interested in the Work Study program. Once approved for work study, an award notice will be sent and students may apply for available job(s) at MC.
