Behavioral Health
The Department of Behavioral Health offers both a Mental Health Technician Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Behavioral Health. The Mental Health Technician Certificate is a two-semester program designed to equip students with foundational mental and behavioral health knowledge, practical skills, and the ability to deliver essential care to individuals across diverse mental health and developmental settings. Graduates of the certificate program earn certifications in CPR and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and are eligible for employment as Behavioral Health Technicians.
The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Behavioral Health builds upon the foundation established in the Mental Health Technician Certificate. This degree is earned by completing three additional semesters of advanced coursework and training. The program prepares students to deliver higher-level mental health interventions, including crisis de-escalation, risk assessment, brief therapeutic strategies, and psychoeducation. Graduates are eligible for employment as Advanced Behavioral Health Technicians.
