Nursing Programs

 
Midland College offers three programs for students interested in entering the healthcare field as a nurse. Learn more about the differences between the programs, requirements, and length of programs by visiting the specific pages below.

 

CNA

Nurse Aide

Continuing Education Certificate

  • All in one course! 11 classroom days (66 hours) plus 8 clinical days (48 hours)
  • Texas Nurse Aide Certification Exam eligible
  • Earn up to $32,557/year in Texas
  • Common work areas include: long-term care facilities, hospitals, physician offices, health departments, and home health care agencies



LVN

Licensed Vocational Nurse

Certificate

  • 12-month program
  • National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN)
  • Provide basic nursing care
  • Work under direct supervision of Registered Nurses and doctors
  • Common work areas include: nursing homes, extended care facilities, hospitals, physicians' offices, and private homes
  • Median annual wage $45,090 in 2020


RN

Registered Nurse

Associate Degree

  • 2-year program
  • National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN)
  • Work under the direction of a physician to provide advanced care to critically ill patients
  • Common work areas include: critical care units, E.R., Labor and Delivery, physician’s offices, schools, and travel nursing, long term acute care hospitals
  • Salaries vary depending on location and specialty $43,000 – $82,500
