The Permian Basin is facing a critical workforce shortage in health care. With a growing population and expanding medical facilities, the demand for nurses, radiologic technologists, respiratory therapists, sonographers, and behavioral health specialists continues to outpace the supply of trained professionals. Local hospitals and clinics are struggling to fill positions, making it essential to invest in education and training programs that prepare students to enter the workforce quickly and competently.

Midland College is proud to announce that Pete Avalos, Dean of Applied Technology, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of College Technical Educators (TACTE). In this leadership role, Avalos will serve a two-year term, helping to guide the organization's mission of strengthening workforce education across Texas.

Midland College has long been a driving force in workforce development, and through our dual credit CTE programs, we are making an even greater impact -- helping students and workers enter high-demand careers earlier and fueling the economic growth of the Permian Basin.
