Texas Funding Eligibility
Texas provides opportunities for students to receive additional monies.
General ELIGIBILITY
- Be a Texas Resident
- Be a US Citizen, eligible noncitizen or be certified as HB 1403 eligible
- Show financial need
- Have a high school diploma, final high school transcript with a graduation date or GED
- Be registered with the Selective Service (males 18-25 years of age) or provide documentation of exemption
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student working toward a degree or certificate in an eligible program
- Make Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default on a federal educational loan
- Be enrolled in at least 6 hour

This state grant has limited funding and is awarded on first-come, first-served basis to eligible students. Students interested in this grant must complete the FAFSA.
The Texas Educational Opportunity Grant (TEOG) was established by the Texas Legislature to help well-prepared high school graduates with financial need attend public institutions of higher education in texas. The purpose of tis grant aid is to provide academic and continuing education students with financial need, who enroll in Texas Public two-year colleges.
Note: Funding is limited. Each year, institutions try to award funds to as many eligible students as possible. However, all eligible students may not receive funding. Midland College is required to verify hours and whether a student previously received this grant through the Texas Coordinating Board prior to awarding.
Funding amounts for 2025-26:
$2,134 per term for two terms, total annual amount: $4,268.
eligibility criteria:
- Be classifed by the institution as a Texas resident
- be registered with Selective Service, or be exempt - if you are male (the Texas State of Elegibility form is used for this)
- Have financial need - current FAFSA is required to determine
- Be enrolled at least half-time as an indergraduate student at an eligible 2-year institution
- Initial Grant: Have not attempted more than 45 semester credit hours (excluded credits for dual enrollment or by examination)
- Renewal Grant: Must have receved the initial TEOG award NOT have attempted more than 63 hours.
- Student Aif Index: (SAI on FAFSA) cannot exceed $6,514
- Have not earned an associate ot baccalaureate degree
- Not have been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance
- Not late on your child support payment by 30 days or more.

Students that are classified as a Texas Resident who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are encouraged to complete the TASFA.
Documents Required
- Proof of registration with Selective Service (males only 18-25 years old)
- Submit the TASFA directly to Midland with supporting income documentation (copy of your income tax transcript(s) for the requested year/tax return)
- Other documents may be required
