Midland College is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Adrian Vega as Vice President
of Institutional Advancement. Dr. Vega will enhance already strong community relationships,
promote the mission and vision of the college, and promote educational opportunities.
In addition, Dr. Vega will lead fundraising initiatives and drive support for scholarships,
capital projects, and other areas of critical need.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Vega to our team,” said Dr. Damon Kennedy, President
of Midland College. “His extensive experience in education and his collaborative leadership
style perfectly align with Midland College’s strategic goals. We are very fortunate
to have a strong partner in the work of reimagining the future of our institution.”
Dr. Vega joins Midland College from his recent role as Executive Director for the
Education Partnership of the Permian Basin, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience
in both Texas and Arizona school districts.
Vega began his career in the Dallas Independent School District, where he served as
a bilingual teacher, assistant principal, instructional coach, and professional development
leader.
Throughout his career, Dr. Vega has demonstrated a passion for innovative education.
“In the many years I have had the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Vega, I have seen
wild creativity and a willingness to innovate,” said Kennedy. “I am most impressed
by his ability to simply convey the most complex of initiatives. His broad experience
and dedication to advancing educational opportunities will greatly benefit Midland
College and its mission to foster growth and excellence.”
At Tyler ISD, he introduced Project Based Learning and Project Lead the Way to Boulter
Middle School as its principal. While in Ector County ISD, he was the founding principal
of New Tech Odessa High School, a college-prep institution known for its project-based
learning approach.
Vega’s leadership journey continued as Deputy Superintendent for Tucson Unified School
District in Arizona, followed by his tenure as Superintendent of Schools for San Benito
CISD in Texas.
