The Writing Center is the Midland College tutoring center where all MC students have access to FREE tutoring by faculty, staff, and trained peer tutors in the convenience of the library where students also have access to resources such as computers, printers, and reference books for student use.

The Writing Center offers tutor assistance in all steps of the writing process, from brainstorming and drafting to final revisions. Tutors help with formatting issues, research, and citations. They also work with students to improve their use of grammar and mechanics, audience awareness, and organization.

If you need help with pesky commas, an essay, research, etc. we are the place to come!

How Does Tutoring in the on-campus Writing Center Work?

  • Make sure to bring your written assignment sheet from your instructor.
  • Tutoring is a collaborative process (it is not a proofreading or editing service). Your tutor will point out areas of strength and help you to improve by discussing thoughts, ideas, and suggestions with you.
  • At the end of your 20-45 minute session, your work will be improved if you implement feedback, but you may require additional sessions to reach your personal writing goals.
  • Feel free to utilize this resource as often as needed.
