Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) is recognizing Midland College PTK chapter for
its efforts to bring life-changing benefits and opportunities of PTK membership to
even more students.
The recognition is part of PTK’s REACH Rewards program, which celebrates and rewards
Phi Theta Kappa chapters excelling in membership development by achieving exceptionally
high rates of membership acceptance during the 2022 calendar year.
“Community colleges are centers of development, growth and quality education,” PTK
President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner said. “PTK celebrates the achievements of
community college students and creates an environment that encourages learning and
success. PTK membership engages students beyond the classroom in academic and service
learning. By increasing student engagement, we increase rates of student success.
REACH Chapters perform exceptional work in promoting student engagement and student
success.”
The REACH recognition comes on the heels of the announcement that three Midland College
PTK students were selected to the 2023 All-Texas Academic Team. On Thursday, April
6, Maria Gonzalez, Nathan Nash and Carlos Torres will attend the All-Texas Academic
Team medallion ceremony at the University of Texas at Dallas.
“We are very proud of our PTK chapter and students,” MC President Dr. Steve Thomas
said. “These students work hard to excel in academics, leadership and community service.
As members of the All-Texas Academic Team, Maria Gonzalez, Nathan Nash and Carlos
Torres represent the best and brightest students in Texas community colleges.”
Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement
of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars
and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.8 million members and nearly 1,300
