Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society for community colleges, is honoring Midland College (MC) Government professor Dr. Terry Gilmour with the Paragon Award for New Advisors.

The award recognizes advisors who have served less than four years and have made significant contributions to the growth of the individual chapter members, served as the chapter’s advocate on campus and encouraged the chapter to be involved on the local, regional and/or international level of the organization.

Gilmour is one of only 15 Phi Theta Kappa advisors worldwide who will be honored with the Paragon Award during PTK Catalyst 2019, the annual convention to be held in Orlando, FL on April 4-6 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center.

Gilmour has been teaching Government full-time at Midland College since 1997 and served as an adjunct faculty member for several years prior.  She holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from West Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University.  Currently at Midland College, Gilmour not only teaches Government courses, but also serves as the director of MC’s Honors Program and as advisor of the college’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
