The traditional classroom is Denise’s preference. The online platform allows her freedom to grade and post when she wants to, yet the classroom setting gives her the opportunity for conversations, story-telling, and various other learning strategies. She uses Top Hat interaction where students can answer quiz questions on their cell phones (yes, they can have their phones on in class), which always keeps them interested.

She spends happy moments with her husband and sometimes their grown sons at their lake property in Henderson, New York. every summer. She’s been going there for the last 31 years and enjoys the peace of the lake, critters, lightning bugs, and wood camp fire sessions with family. Locally, she likes going to the wildlife refuge for walks and meditation. After being around people most of her days, she enjoys solitude in the afternoon or evening.
