AA/AS Transfer Pathways
Designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university after graduation. These pathways focus on academic courses that commonly transfer toward bachelor’s degrees.

Understanding FERPA
A Guide for Midland College Students
When you enroll at Midland College, your education records are protected by a federal law called the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

FERPA gives you control over your education records.
This means:

- You decide who can access your information
- The College cannot share your information without your permission (in most cases)
Your education records include things like:

- Grades and GPA
- Class schedule
- Attendance
- Academic standing
- Student account and billing information
- Financial aid information
Not without your permission.
Even if you are:

- In Dual Credit
- Living at home
- Having someone else pay for your classes
Your records still belong to you.
If you want a parent, guardian, or other person to have access, you can complete a FERPA Consent to Release Information form.
With this form, you decide:

You can change or cancel this at any time.
Yes, but they are limited.
The College may share information without your permission in certain situations, such as:

- A health or safety emergency
- Certain disciplinary situations involving alcohol or drugs if you are under 21

We’re Here to Help. Students currently attending another college or university may enroll at Midland College as a visiting student to complete courses during the summer or other semesters.
Common reasons students enroll as visiting students:

MC Dual Credit is FREE for partner schools! If you think this is a different circumstance that you need to pay for something please reach out to your MC Advisor today and we can get you more information.
Schools have specific requirements depending on the program you are interested in or currently following. Reach out to your counselor as well as your advisor to get more information about what classes are available to you!
Dual Credit students cannot register themselves. We work closely with the schools to make sure you are in the classes you need for both High School and College Credit and we want to make sure you are on the right path. If you need help adding a class, please reach out to your school’s counselor or your Dual Credit Advisor.
In some cases, the answer is yes! Depending on what program you are following we can work with you and your school to either get you all the way to an associate degree or get you as many credits as possible so you are ready to transfer when you graduate High School.
Yes, you can! Reach out to your High School Counselor and your Dual Credit Advisor and we can help you get registered for this class when the time comes.
You can take a college course as a dual credit student as long as:

- The course is going towards a credential (on degree plan)
- It is not a course you are taking to get ahead. (GOVT 2305 during junior year)
