College Health Information Management Students Surpass National Average with High RHIT Pass Rate November 01, 2019

Midland College’s focus on student performance and quality instruction has really paid off for MC students pursuing a career in Health Information Management (HIM). 100% of students that completed the AAS program and took the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam have passed – an amazing accomplishment that few colleges in the nation have been able to match.

The RHIT credential is a profession certification necessary for a career as a health information technician. Midland College HIM student’s pass rate exceeds the annual national average of 70% for first time test takers.

Following graduation and receiving the RHIT credential, HIM professionals are responsible for patient information, business and legal aspects of healthcare and assisting with maintaining a viable revenue stream for facilities.

Why pursue a career in Health Information Management? Under a new healthcare initiative, healthcare providers are required to keep secure, electronic patient records. As a result, there is a growing demand for specialists who can code, digitize and create electronic patient records.
