Need Help With Canvas? 

The Chap Success Center / Canvas Help Desk is here to support you. Students can visit us in person at the Fasken Learning Resource Center (LRC/Library), 2nd Floor for one-on-one help, or call 432-685-4629. We can troubleshoot Canvas issues or help you get started. 

Click sections below for Canvas resources and training

  • Check your computer to make sure it meets Canvas requirements.
  • Internet stability is critical when working remotely. If you experience network slowness while working from home, you can also try turning off internet-heavy devices or services on your home network, like Netflix streams or video game consoles.

  • Chromebooks are not compatible with some features integrated in Canvas, such as the Respondus LockDown Browser. Check with your students to make sure they have access to a compatible device before using this feature.

Visit the Canvas for Students page, found under the Midland College Announcements and Resources, for additional Canvas support. This page will provide you with a solid foundation in how to use Canvas, so that more of your time is spent learning.

Can't Find Your Courses?

Mobile App

  • In the Canvas Student mobile app, tap the four squares icon in the top right corner
  • Tap the "Edit Dashboard" link
  • Tap the star, to the left of the title, for classes to appear in the dashboard. (solid blue star)
  • Tap the solid blue star to remove the course from the Dashboard view
  • Watch this video for step-by-step instructions:

Desktop

  • Select the Courses link in the dark gray toolbar on the left
  • Scroll to the bottom of the list and select the “All Courses” link
  • When the new page opens, select the star next to the courses to appear in the Dashboard. (solid orange star)
  • Select the solid orange star to remove the course from the Dashboard view.

"How-To" Questions

  1. Login to Canvas
  2. Select the Help icon/button in the dark gray toolbar on the left side of the screen
  3. Select the BEST option from the following:

Ask Your Instructor a Question

Questions are submitted to your instructor and will be sent as a Conversation through your Canvas Inbox. Be sure to select the CORRECT course!

Submit A CAnvas Help Ticket

  1. Login to Canvas
  2. *CRUCIAL STEP: Navigate to the Canvas page where you have a problem
  3. Select the Help icon/button in the dark gray toolbar on the left side of the screen 
  4. Select "Canvas Help Ticket"
  5. Explain in detail the problem you are experiencing and Submit Ticket
  6. Check your MC email for a response from Canvas support
  7. Reply to that email if a response is necessary

* When a ticket is submitted, it captures the page URL, browser and system information that helps troubleshoot the problem. If the Canvas ticket is not submitted from the page where the problem exists, it will increase the time it takes to solve the problem.
