New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation

Welcome!

You're officially a Chap, you’ve worked hard to get here! New Student Orientation (NSO) is a MANDATORY one-day experience for all incoming students, and will prepare you for success at Midland College. During NSO, you will become acquainted with campus resources, meet other new students, learn more about how to pay for college, and gain a better understanding of what it takes to find success as a college student at MC.

NSO is available as a live experience for in-person and hybrid learners beginning classes at start of the Full Fall semester or Fall I term. Virtual NSO (VSNO) is available for distance learners and other students beginning classes Fall II and beyond. We can’t wait to meet you!

For academic year 2022-2023, new student orientation will be available as a VNSO experience ONLY

Once you have addressed the steps above, you are ready for NSO/Virtual NSO!

After you’ve registered, you will receive an email invitation to join the NSO Canvas course to your MC student email. Once you accept the invitation, you will have access to the NSO Canvas course. If you’ve not accessed student email yet, this video below will direct you to the steps.

Virtual NSO content is organized by topic. These topics are contained in a module, or information group.

There is a quiz at the end of each module requiring a passing grade, as indicated, for progression to the next module. Modules are locked, so you will not be able to advance to the next module without achieving the current module’s passing score.

When you have arrived at the closing video contained in the final module, and completed it’s associated completion quiz, you have completed NSO.
