Holiday Safety Advisory

As we are getting ready for the holidays, the Midland College Police Department would like to remind everyone about being safe. During the holiday season, there are usually quite a bit more thefts, car burglaries, etc. It is important to remember to lock your vehicles and DO NOT leave any thing valuable in it, like your purse or wallet. We have had a couple complaints of seeing suspicious people walking around, and the MC Police Department wants to make sure that everyone has a safe & happy holiday. So if you see anyone that looks suspicious, please do not approach them -call us at 685-4734, and we will be glad to look into it.

Mission

The mission of the Midland College Police Department is to maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.  It is our goal to assist you in any way possible.  Your safety is of great importance to us.  In keeping with this mission we provide many services to the public.

Campus Police Services

    1. Jump Starts - Often when students who commute some distance arrive, they inadvertently leave their headlights on.  When this occurs, a call to our office will bring an officer with the ability to provide jump start service.

    2. Door Unlocking - If you have locked your keys in your vehicle, call our office and we will attempt to open your door.

    3. Escorts - We can provide an escort for students who are concerned for their safety.  Please call to make an appointment for this service.

    4. Lost and Found - We are the repository for items which have been found on campus.  If you have lost an item, call or come by and claim it.  In the event it has not been turned in to us, we will record your name and phone number so that we may call when, and if, it is turned in to us.

    5. Information concerning campus police and parking regulations is located in the Catalog and Student Handbook.

The Midland College Police Department is located in the Allison Fine Arts Center, Room 114.  If the office is unoccupied an officer can be reached by the PBX operator between the hours of 8 a.m. - 9:45 p.m. Monday - Friday.  At all other times if the PBX office is closed an officer can be reached by calling the Midland College Police Department office number, 685-4734 or cellular phone number 528-3680.

Police Powers

The Midland College Police Department  has been a professional Texas law enforcement agency since May 1998.  The authorization is derived from the Texas Education Code Chapter 51, Title 3.
