Ready to Graduate?

Application

Students are encouraged to apply for graduation the semester before they plan to graduate. Having the requirements checked, allows students to finalize their course selection before the last semester. However, if students miss this window, they may apply early in the semester in which they will graduate. Posted deadlines can be found in the academic calendar.

The application should be filled out only by students who wish to participate in the graduation ceremony.  All students who are eligible to earn their degree or certificate will be awarded at the end of the semester.  The application is not needed unless you want to participate in the ceremony.

Applications to participate in the December commencement ceremony are now being accepted! Students who apply after the November 6 deadline will be able to participate in the commencement ceremony but may not have their name listed in the program.

How to Apply

  • Sign into the My MC Portal
  • Select the "Students" tab
  • On the left side of the Students page, in the left-hand navigation, click on "Transcripts and Forms"
  • In the center of the "Transcripts and Forms" page, in the "Forms/Online Services" section, select "Graduation Participation Application"

Due Date

Students who wish to participate in the graduation ceremony should apply by November 6 to ensure their name is included in the program.  Students who apply after this date will be able to participate in the commencement ceremony but may not have their name listed in the program.

What is the difference?

It is important that candidates and families understand the difference between "participating in the graduation ceremony” (walking across the stage) and "graduating” (receiving a diploma).

Ceremony

Midland College holds a Graduation Ceremony each May and December. Students are invited to participate in the ceremony as long as they have met the following requirements:

  • Degree Candidates: have 6 or less semester credit hours remaining
  • Certificate Candidates: Have 1 class remaining for graduation
  • Have a 2.0 Cumulative GPA at MC

Graduated

Students are considered “Graduated” once all degree/certificate requirements are met. Conferrals are completed 6-8 weeks after the last day of the semester the student finished the requirements in. Graduates will be notified by email when their certificate/diploma is conferred with information on how to order a printed copy of the diploma.
